Halifax man faces impaired driving charge for golf cart rollover at The Links at Brunello
A man was arrested for impaired driving after a golf cart rollover in Timberlea on Saturday.
At about 1:30 p.m., RCMP, EHS and fire services responded to a single-vehicle crash at The Links at Brunello golf course. Upon arrival, officers learned a golf cart carrying two occupants had rolled over.
The passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and received first aid at the scene. The driver showed signs of impairment, and a roadside breath sample resulted in a fail.
A 33-year-old Halifax man was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Tantallon RCMP Detachment, where he provided two breath samples. The man was released and is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date.
Mandy Edwards, public information officer for the RCMP’s Halifax Regional Detachment, said anyone operating a motor vehicle, a vessel, an aircraft or railway equipment while impaired by drugs or alcohol can be charged with impaired driving.
“A motor vehicle is broadly defined as any vehicle that is drawn, propelled or driven by any means other than muscular power,” said Edwards.
“In addition to cars, trucks and motorcycles, operators of ATVs, snowmobiles, motorized scooters, golf carts and ride-on lawnmowers can also be charged with impaired driving.”
