One hundred community fire departments, ground search and rescue units, and hazardous response teams across Nova Scotia are receiving an influx of provincial funding. The Department of Emergency Management announced more than $2.75 million in grants through the Emergency Services Provider Fund.

Under the program, recipient organizations can receive up to $30,000 each. The funding covers essential capital gear, including personal protective gear, radio communications arrays, specialized rescue tools, water suppression systems, and backup generators. Provincial officials highlighted that modern equipment directly strengthens responder safety during extreme weather events and rural rescue calls.
