One of the biggest ownership changes in Canadian sports is now complete.
Rogers Communications has completed its acquisition of the remaining 25 per cent of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment from Kilmer Sports for approximately $4.35 billion.
The transaction gives Rogers full ownership of MLSE.
MLSE owns the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, Toronto FC and Toronto Argonauts, along with Scotiabank Arena.
Rogers is also creating a new Rogers Sports division bringing its sports, media and entertainment properties together.
Those holdings now include MLSE, Sportsnet, the Toronto Blue Jays and Rogers Centre.
Keith Pelley will remain president and CEO of MLSE while also leading Rogers’ media division.
